General Conditions

1. Enrollment

1) The registration fee is payable to all students upon registration and is valid for one (1) academic year.

 

2) The application includes a level assessment (written test and oral interview) to determine the student's knowledge.

 

3) Registration is only valid after payment of the respective fee.

 

4) Cancellation of registration is allowed in the following circumstances:

  1. a) Failure to open a class at the time indicated on the student's Registration Form, with the registration fee refunded in full;
  2. b) After the first class attended, and before the end of the week in question, with the registration and monthly fees paid 50% refunded;
  3. c) After these deadlines mentioned in a) and b), the student must c) After the deadlines in items (a) and (b) have elapsed, the student must notify the Institute, in written form, by the tenth (10th) day of the previous month, with no right to reimbursement of the amounts paid.

2. Payments

1) Payments can be made using the following methods:

  1. a) Direct Debit;
  2. b) Multibank reference;
  3. c) Debit Card (liable to the centre's availability); 
  4. d) Cash; 
  5. e) Education Tickets.

3. Parents

1) In the case of minor students, it is mandatory to identify at least one Guardian.

 

2) The Parent is responsible for ensuring compliance with the General Conditions by his/her child.

 

3) The Parent has the right of access to the following data: 

  1. a) Attend some of the classes by appointment; 
  2. b) Results obtained in evaluations;
  3. c) Data made available at the secretariat.

4. Class Information

1) An hour is equivalent to one teaching hour, which corresponds to fifty-five (55) minutes in the classroom. 

 

2) Classes of two (2) hours are made up of two (2) periods of fifty-five (55) minutes in the classroom, interspersed with a mandatory 5-minute break.

 

3) UP School reserves the right to replace the teacher if necessary.

5. Behaviour

1) Students must comply with all rules of good behaviour. Any inappropriate or disruptive conduct may lead to the cancellation of the registration.

 

2) The security measures of the centres must be respected by all. 

 

3) Students must comply with the security measures related to COVID-19 adopted by the school.

6. Annual Courses

1) The Annual Courses have an estimated duration of 60 or 90 hours depending on the modality. However, the total number of hours taught may be higher. Public holidays and school holidays are already counted in the total number of hours and included in the School Calendar.

 

2) Classes have a minimum number of three (3) and a maximum of fifteen (15) students.

 

3) UP School reserves the right to start classes with fewer than three (3) students, if there is an agreement to reduce the number of hours.

 

4) Payment of monthly or quarterly installments must be made until the fifth (5th) of each month or the fifth (05th) of the first month of the quarter, depending on the modality.

 

5) Payments made after the fifth (05th) day are subject to a penalty of two (2) euros (€) per day until the date of payment.

 

6) Until the start of classes, payment of the first and last installment is required. The payment of the last installment (June) can be made until the end of December, if the student registers during the 1st trimester. 

 

7) After two monthly installments or a semester in debt, the student loses the right to attend classes. 

 

8) The installments always have the same value.

 

9) Absences do not give the right to a discount on the installment.

7. Conversation Classes

1) Subscribing to conversation classes allows the student to attend up to 6 hours of classes per month, except during school holidays and public holidays.

 

2) Each class can have a maximum of fifteen (15) students. 

 

3) Conversation classes can only be attended by students with a minimum level of B1.

 

4) The Conversation Classes modality is a language communication practice service and not a course, so it only gives a certificate of attendance. 

 

5) If the student wishes to obtain a Level Certificate, he/she must request an assessment and proceed with the payment of the respective fee.

8. Intensive Courses

1) Intensive courses must be paid in full until the beginning of classes.

 

2) Intensive courses have a maximum duration of three (3) months.

 

3) The weekly workload of intensive courses is at least four (4) hours.

 

4) The minimum number of students for opening a class is three (3) and the maximum is ten (10).

 

5) Absences do not entitle to a discount on the course fee.

9. Private Classes

1) Individual classes will have to be canceled 24 hours in advance to avoid counting the class as taught.

 

2) The individual lesson packages purchased are valid for the period of one year. 

10. Online Classes

1) Students reserve the right to attend classes by videoconference when this modality is available at the centre.

 

2) Students (or guardian(s)) grant the right to UP School to use the images in the classroom, for the transmission of classes by videoconference, when appropriate.

 

3) If an online class intends to change to a face-to-face regime, the class schedule may need to be adjusted.

11. Discounts

1) Discounts are only applied to students who attend classes with a minimum of 4 students.

 

2) Discounts are only applied to Annual Courses, thus excluding Conversation Classes, Intensive Courses and Private Classes.

 

3) The Senior Club and Meeting Point discounts have their own conditions that must be requested at the secretariat of the respective centre.

 

4) Discounts from protocols with External Entities cannot be combined with similar discounts.

 

5) The maximum percentage of discount that can be granted is twenty percent (20%).

12. Level Certificates

1) In order to obtain a level, enrollment in a course with a minimum duration of 60 hours is required and it needs a minimum attendance of seventy-five percent (75%) of the classes. Obtaining a level requires at least sixty percent (60%) of school performance.

 

2) It is possible to issue certificates up to a maximum limit of five years from the completion of the course. There is no right to duplicate this document.

13. Translations

1) All translation jobs are subject to a budget.

2) For all jobs, a 50% down payment is required when given the budget. 

3) If the translation isn't delivered, the paid deposit will be forfeit to UP School.
