The UP School and NEWL – National Exams in World Languages
We prepare our students for this language assessment:
Arabic
Korean
Portuguese (global)
Russian
NEWL exams measure functional language proficiency across four skills: reading comprehension and listening comprehension, oral expression and written expression. These language proficiency exams allow high school students — both traditional foreign language learners and heritage learners — to be awarded grading reports that can be used to apply to universities within American higher education through credits and / or placement.
An initiative of the American Councils for International Education, which learners of heritage and traditional languages use to apply for university credits and/or placement, report to one of our learning centers.
